Telescopic Whip Starting Positions

Note: These are recommended starting positions only. Final tuning should always be performed using an SWR meter or antenna analyzer.

Tuning Procedure

1. Loosen the telescopic whip locking mechanism.
2. Extend the whip according to the tuning chart.
3. Secure all whip sections.
4. Mount the antenna on a tripod or mast.
5. Connect an SWR meter or antenna analyzer.
6. Measure SWR on the desired frequency.
7. Extend or retract the whip in small increments (approximately 5–10 mm) until the lowest SWR is achieved.
8. Tighten all sections securely before transmitting.

Important Notes

• The tuning chart provides recommended starting positions.

• Final whip length may vary depending on installation height, surrounding objects, ground conditions, and coaxial cable length.

• Always tune the antenna in its final operating location.

• Maintain SWR below 1.5:1 whenever possible.

• Recheck tuning whenever the antenna is relocated.
